Seoul, South Korea, September 4–5, 2026 — The Indonesian Society for Digestive Endoscopy (ISDE/PEGI) brought Indonesia’s perspective to the international gastrointestinal endoscopy community through its participation in KSGE Days 2026, organized by the Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (KSGE) on September 4–5, 2026, at Lotte Hotel Seoul, Seoul, South Korea.

ISDE’s participation in KSGE Days 2026 followed an official invitation from KSGE to take part in a Joint Session as part of the scientific program. This year’s event held special significance as it coincided with the 50th anniversary of KSGE, bringing together leading endoscopy societies and experts from across the region and beyond.

The Joint Session provided an important platform for international endoscopy societies to exchange scientific knowledge, clinical experience, and the latest developments in gastrointestinal endoscopy, while further strengthening academic and institutional collaboration among endoscopy communities in Asia.

Following the invitation, Dr. dr. Achmad Fauzi, SpPD, K-GEH, Chairman of the Indonesian Society for Digestive Endoscopy (ISDE/PEGI), appointed two Indonesian endoscopists to represent ISDE in the Joint Session: Dr. Virly Nanda Muzellina, from Jakarta, and Dr. AM Luthfi Parewangi, from Makassar.

Both physicians participated in the Joint Session entitled “Nonvariceal Upper GI Bleeding (NVUGIB): Regional Epidemiology with Next-Generation Hemostasis.” The session explored the management of nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding from a regional perspective, covering epidemiology in Korea and Indonesia, risk factors, initial endoscopic approaches, emerging hemostatic technologies, and the role of interventional radiology in the management of NVUGIB.

Dr. Virly Nanda Muzellina served as both moderator and speaker during the session. As a speaker, she presented “Emerging Technologies for Advanced Endoscopic Hemostasis: New Devices, Novel Agents, and Digital Guidance.”

Her presentation highlighted emerging developments in endoscopic hemostasis, including innovative devices, novel hemostatic agents, and advances in digital guidance. These developments represent important steps toward improving the precision, effectiveness, and safety of endoscopic interventions for gastrointestinal bleeding.

Meanwhile, Dr. dr. AM Luthfi Parewangi, SpPD, K-GEH participated as a speaker with the presentation “Regional Epidemiology, Risk Factors, and Initial Endoscopic Approach in Indonesia.” Through this presentation, Dr. Luthfi brought the Indonesian perspective to the regional discussion on NVUGIB, highlighting epidemiological characteristics, risk factors, and the initial endoscopic approach within the Indonesian clinical setting.

The participation of both Indonesian endoscopists provided an important opportunity to showcase Indonesia’s clinical experience and perspectives to the international endoscopy community. At the same time, the forum facilitated the exchange of experiences on disease patterns, patient characteristics, clinical strategies, and technological advances in NVUGIB management across different countries in Asia.

ISDE’s participation in the KSGE Days 2026 Joint Session also reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to strengthening academic exchange and international collaboration. International forums such as this provide opportunities not only to share developments in gastrointestinal endoscopy in Indonesia, but also to learn from advances in technology, innovation, and clinical practice from other countries.

Through this collaboration, ISDE aims to further strengthen its institutional relationship with KSGE and explore broader opportunities for cooperation, particularly in education, training, research, and the advancement of gastrointestinal endoscopy.

ISDE’s participation in KSGE Days 2026 marks another step toward bringing Indonesian gastrointestinal endoscopy to the international stage, while strengthening Indonesia’s contribution to the advancement of endoscopic science, technology, and clinical practice across Asia and the global community.
