Dr. Muhammad Faisal Prananda Represented Indonesia in the Visiting Scholar Program of Advanced Endoscopy in Japan
The Indonesian Society for Digestive Endoscopy (ISDE) continues to support the advancement of Indonesian physicians through international academic collaboration and professional development programs. As part of this commitment, Dr. Muhammad Faisal Prananda, participated in the 2026 Visiting Scholar Program in Advanced Endoscopy held at Kyushu University Hospital, Fukuoka, Japan, from April 1–30, 2026.

The program was conducted at the Department of Endoscopic Diagnostics and Therapeutics, Kyushu University Hospital, one of Japan’s leading centers for gastroenterology and advanced endoscopy. During the one-month fellowship, dr. Faisal was actively involved in various academic and clinical activities, including clinical observations, scientific discussions, case reviews, and direct exposure to the latest diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic techniques implemented in Japan.

As part of the international fellowship activities, dr. Faisal also visited Fukuoka University Chikushi Hospital to broaden his clinical insights and academic experience in gastrointestinal endoscopy. Under the guidance of Prof. Kenshi Yao, he had the opportunity to observe advanced endoscopic approaches and exchange knowledge with leading experts in the field.

Throughout the program, dr. Faisal participated in advanced endoscopy workshops and hands-on training sessions, including Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), a minimally invasive therapeutic procedure increasingly utilized in the management of gastrointestinal lesions. The training provided valuable exposure to contemporary endoscopic practices and multidisciplinary approaches in digestive healthcare.

At the conclusion of the fellowship, dr. Faisal delivered a final presentation highlighting key reflections, clinical observations, and the knowledge gained throughout the Visiting Scholar Program. The presentation summarized the advanced endoscopy techniques and learning experiences acquired during his training at Kyushu University Hospital.
Beyond enhancing technical competence, the program also fostered opportunities for future international collaboration in education, research, and the development of gastroenterology and digestive endoscopy services between Indonesia and Japan.
