Every April 7th is commemorated as World Health Day.
Currently, the right to health of millions of people worldwide is increasingly under threat. Diseases and disasters are the leading causes of death and disability.
At least 140 countries recognize health as a human right in their constitutions. However, around 4.5 billion people (more than half of the world’s population) were not fully covered by basic health services in 2021.
This year, WHO adopts the theme “My Health, My Right” to advocate for the rights of every individual wherever they are to have access to quality healthcare services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working conditions, and an environment free from discrimination.
