The representation of PEGI at JGES STARS 2024

On September 15, 2023, the Indonesian Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (PEGI) received an invitation from the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) to participate in the JGES Support Training of Asian Rising Stars (STARS) program. The program is scheduled to run for two weeks, with participants from five countries: Indonesia, Mongolia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Cambodia.

Dr. Vesri Yoga, SpPD, K-GEH, MARS, FINASIM, was selected as Indonesia’s representative to take part in this program. He underwent intensive training at Wakayama Medical Hospital, under the direct supervision of Prof. Masayuki Kitano MD, PhD, Professor and Chairman of the Second Department of Internal Medicine at Wakayama Medical University.

During the two-week training, Dr. Vesri gained valuable experience and knowledge in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy, working alongside experts and peers from various countries. The program not only provided an opportunity to enhance clinical skills but also to build a strong international professional network.

The highlight of the JGES STARS program will take place from May 30 to June 1, 2024, when all participants, including Dr. Vesri, will have the opportunity to present their training outcomes at the 107th Congress of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society in Tokyo.

Dr. Vesri’s participation in this program is expected to bring significant benefits to the advancement of gastrointestinal endoscopy in Indonesia. We congratulate Dr. Vesri Yoga on his remarkable achievements and contributions.
