
KONKERNAS PPHI PGI PEGI MALANG 2025: COLLABORATION AND SYNERGY FOR NATIONAL ADVANCEMENT
The National Working Conference (KONKERNAS) of PPHI PGI PEGI 2025 was successfully held from July 16 to 19, 2025, at Harris Hotel & Convention, Malang City, in conjunction with the 14th Malang Gastroenterohepatology Update (MGU). With the theme “Innovations in Gastroenterohepatology and Pancreatobiliary Medicine: Navigating the Future of Digestive Health and Disease Management,” the event welcomed over 300 participants, including internists, gastroenterohepatology consultants, endoscopic physicians, nurses, and academicians from across Indonesia.
The event was chaired by Dr. Bogi Pratomo Wibowo supported by Dr. Supriono, Dr. Syifa Mustika, Dr. Mochamad Fachrureza, and the organizing committee from the Malang Branch of PPHI PGI PEGI.The conference series began on July 6, 2025, with a virtual Task Force Meeting involving 20 regional branches. Discussions focused on strategic proposals regarding organizational development, education, and research, which were then further deliberated during the organizational sessions held throughout the event.
On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, key internal meetings were conducted, including the Dewan Pertimbangan Keahlian (DPK) Meeting led by Dr. Ali Djumhana and Dr. Bogi Pratomo Wibowo as well as Forum Guru Besar (FGB), chaired by Prof. Marcellus Simadibrata and Prof. Muhammad Miftahussurur. These were followed by the main organizational assembly, with delegates from all regional branches in attendance.

Notable figures in the field also participated, including Dr. IGP Suka Aryana, Chairman of the Indonesian College of Internal Medicine, who discussed post-regulation competencies following the enactment of Law No. 17 of 2023, and Dr. M. Cucu Zakaria, representing the National Health Insurance Agency (BPJS Kesehatan), who presented on healthcare financing in gastroenterohepatology. These sessions sparked active discussions and demonstrated strong participant engagement.
Thursday, July 17, featured a series of scientific workshops: Basic and Advanced Endoscopy, Basic Ultrasonography, Microwave Ablation, and an oral free paper presentation session evaluated by Prof. IDN Wibawa, (Denpasar) and Prof. M. Miftahussurur, (Surabaya).
On Friday, July 18, in addition to the symposium, a scientific poster session showcased 64 posters across research and case report categories. Posters were reviewed by national experts including Prof. Murdani Abdullah, (Jakarta), Prof. Rino Alvani Gani, (Jakarta), Dr. Hery Djagat Purnomo, (Semarang), and Dr. Putut Bayupurnama, (Yogyakarta). The quality of submissions and the lively academic interactions reflected the participants’ enthusiasm and commitment.
The event’s highlight was the official opening of the KONKERNAS & MGU 14 Symposium by the Mayor of Malang, Dr. Wahyu Hidayat, MM. In his remarks, he praised the synergy among PPHI, PGI, and PEGI for organizing a nationally impactful scientific gathering. He noted that the symposium’s theme aligns with the city’s health vision, particularly its “Ngalam Tahes” initiative, which emphasizes responsive, equitable, and sustainable healthcare. The presence of Malang’s Head of Health Office, Dr. Husnul Muarif, MM, further emphasized strong regional government support.
Prof. Ari Fahrial Syam, MMB, PhD, FACP, FACG, Chair of the National Board of PPHI PGI PEGI, stressed the significance of such scientific forums in addressing dynamic developments in internal medicine. He highlighted that the workshops, lectures, and interactive discussions were designed to disseminate the latest innovations in gastroenterology and hepatology. The prestigious MGU Awards also served to recognize impactful scientific contributions.

The KONKERNAS PPHI PGI PEGI Malang 2025 concluded on Saturday, July 19, 2025, marking the end of a dynamic and constructive week-long agenda. Participants left with renewed energy and commitment to advancing the science of gastroenterohepatology and strengthening Indonesia’s healthcare system. The spirit of multidisciplinary and inter-regional collaboration fostered during the event is expected to form a strong foundation for future strategic initiatives in facing the evolving challenges of modern medicine. Malang has undoubtedly proven itself a successful host city, providing a productive collaborative platform for professionals in internal medicine and digestive endoscopy.
