
INDONESIAN DELEGATES PARTICIPATE IN THE INTERNATIONAL YOUNG ENDOSCOPIST AWARD (IYEA) 2025 IN SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA
As part of its commitment to capacity building and fostering international collaboration in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy, the Indonesian Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ISDE) sent a delegation to participate in the International Young Endoscopist Award (IYEA) 2025 program, held from June 2 to 14, 2025, in Seoul, South Korea. IYEA is an annual program organized by the International Digestive Endoscopy Network (IDEN) in collaboration with the Korean Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (KSGE), aimed at enhancing academic knowledge and technical skills among young endoscopists from around the world. Since its inception in 2014, the program has involved more than 306 young endoscopists from 32 countries.

This year, five young internist-endoscopists (members of ISDE) were selected to participate in the IYEA 2025 program: Dr. Apriliana Adhyaksa, SpPD (Surakarta), Dr. Ari Prasetyo Nugroho, SpPD (Surakarta), Dr. Dwijo Anargha, SpPD (Denpasar), Dr. Amaranto Santoso Ongko, SpPD (Ponorogo), and Dr. Radhitya Farizky Deta Juniawan, SpPD (Pamekasan). From June 2–10, 2025, the participants underwent intensive clinical training at gastrointestinal endoscopy centers across South Korea.

Dr. Apriliana and Dr. Ari Prasetyo had the opportunity to undergo ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) and EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound) training at Gangnam Severance Hospital under the supervision of Prof. Jaehee Cho, Prof. Sung Ill Jang, Prof. See Young Lee, and Prof. Younghoon Yoon. Meanwhile, Dr. Dwijo Anargha participated in Lower GI Endoscopy training at Asan Medical Center under the supervision of Prof. Seungwook Hong.

Other Indonesian delegates included Dr. Amaranto Santoso Ongko, who trained in ERCP at Yonsei University – First Severance Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Galam Leem, and Dr. Radhitya Farizky Deta Juniawan, who trained in ESD (Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection) at Hanyang Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Hang Lak Lee.

On June 11, 2025, all IYEA participants from various countries gathered to attend a hands-on training session in EUS and ERCP at the Olympus Korea Medical Training & Education Center (K-TEC). The agenda continued with the IYEA Forum and Annual Meeting on June 12, serving as a platform for discussion and presentation among participants and international mentors. The program culminated with participation in the IDEN 2025 Conference held on June 13–14, 2025, at the Grand Walkerhill Seoul, South Korea.

ISDE extends its appreciation and congratulations to the entire Indonesian delegation for their proud participation in IYEA 2025.It is hoped that the experience and insights gained through this training will enhance the quality of endoscopy services in Indonesia and further strengthen the nation’s presence in the global endoscopy community.
