Guava Could Cure DHF, Fact or Myths? This is What the Doctor Said
The rainy season is identical to the incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) due to the dengue virus which is transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. When this dengue is endemic, many herbal medicines and alternatives are circulating and trusted by the community. One of them is guava. Guava is considered capable of increasing the number of platelets in patients who continue to decline.
Then, is that correct?
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FK UI), Prof. Dr. Dr. Ari Fahrial Syam, SpPD, K-GEH, MMB, FACP, FINASIM (@dokterari), asserted that until now there has been no anti-viral drug and there is no research on the efficacy of guava against DHF. Guava is the same as fruit in general, acts as a source of vitamins, minerals, and also partly contains antioxidants, so it is not associated with increased platelet levels. For the treatment of DHF itself, it is important for patients to pay attention to fluid intake and maintain fluid circulation, namely by adequate infusion and drinking a lot. While the medicines given to DHF patients are only relieving symptoms that appear only.
Healthy regards.
