Profile of The Indonesian Society for Digestive Endoscopy

The Indonesian Society for Digestive Endoscopy (ISDE) was established on December 2, 1973, with a commission domiciled in Jakarta. The activity area of ISDE is in entire area of Indonesia. The formation of this association based on the philosophy of the Republic of Indonesia, Pancasila and the Constitution of 1945, which embody the ambition to serve the country in order  to improve the health of its people.

ISDE is an autonomous council under the auspices of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) which has full authority in determining and implementing the organization duties both inward and outward. ISDE consist of Ordinary Members, Extraordinary Members and Honorary Members. To become an Ordinary Member, the doctor should be submitting a written request through the Branch Commission in accordance with applicable regulations. The Extraordinary Member is an Indonesian General Practitioner who becoming the member of the IDI and ISDE prior to the amendment on 2003 and an Ordinary Member who has no longer performing Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Services actively. While the Honorary Member, generally is a person who has contribution in Endoscopy Gastrointestinal field in Indonesia, both domestic or foreign, and a person who contribute anything that is not binding for the progress of the organization, selected by the ISDE commission.

ISDE is consists of: (1) The Legislative, consisting of the National Congress and the National Work Conference; (2) The Executive Board, consisting of the Commission and Branch Commission; (3) The Joint Commission, is coordination between The Indonesian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), The Indonesian Society for Digestive Endoscopy (ISDE), and Indonesian Society for the Study of the Liver (Ina-ASL); and (4) Particular Board, which consists of the Expertise Advisory Board, the Gastroentero-Hepatology Professor Forum and the Competency Assessor Board which aims to assess competence and provide competency certificate recommendations to ISDE members. Branch Commission can only be formed if there are at least 5 Specialist Doctors with a minimum of 3 competent Specialist Doctors who are competent in the field of Endoscopy and performing Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Services actively.

ISDE routine events include holding Symposiums, Workshops, Webinars, and Consensus related to gastrointestinal endoscopy every year or as needed, and ISDE commission meetings periodically. As an annual event, ISDE organizes the Jakarta International GI Endoscopy Symposium and Live Demonstration (JIGES-LD), which consists of  Symposiums and Endoscopy workshops presenting both domestic and foreign speakers. In addition, the joint commission of ISG-Ina Asl-ISDE organizes the National Congress and National Work Conference every 3 years.
